This humble condiment in your spice cabinet has an age-old history of use in Indian cuisine, Chinese medicine, and Ayurvedic tradition. It has been used to treat digestive issues, liver problems, and wounds, but also offers numerous skincare benefits. Yes! I am talking about Turmeric, the fragrant orange powder in your kitchen. If you want to get a naturally glowing complexion, look no further than turmeric. This ancient spice holds a special place of honor in Indian weddings, which involves slathering turmeric paste on the bride and groom before their wedding day. Isn’t it fabulous?

The antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties of turmeric help reduce the appearance of scars while offering radiant skin.

The benefits of turmeric come from the active ingredient “curcumin”, that scavenges free radicals offering your radiant skin.

Turmeric is a proven anti-inflammatory and lightening agent that helps provide glow and luster to the skin, and is great to reduce dark circles. It also revives your skin by bringing out its natural glow.

The UV rays from the sun can cause sunburns, skin cancer, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, and wrinkles. American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) in their 68th Annual Meeting stated that a moisturizing cream with turmeric can improve the appearance of fine lines and brown spots caused by sun damage. Turmeric helps prevent loss of skin elasticity due to long term UVB exposure. Apply turmeric topically or ingest it to reap the benefits.

For a face mask, mix ½ teaspoon with 1 tablespoon of honey. Apply on the face and leave on for 10 minutes, then rinse with cold water. Repeat it one to two times a week.

The antibacterial effects of turmeric help treat many skin conditions, including acne. It helps destroy acne-causing bacteria as well as remove excess oil from the skin.

Mix ½ teaspoon of turmeric with 2 teaspoons of sandalwood powder and some milk to form a paste. Apply all over your face and leave to dry. Wash off with cold water. To get good results repeat a few times a week.

If you want to get glowing and radiant  skin naturally, reach for turmeric. This ancient spice has a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that brighten the skin, improve the skin’s complexion, and rejuvenate dull-looking skin.

Turmeric heal wounds, reduce burn pain, and treat painful skin conditions, but also offers everyday skin benefits. When made into a paste with other ingredients like sandalwood powder or coconut oil, turmeric significantly reduces the appearance of acne scars. The available nutrients in the turmeric, along with its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, helps speed up the skin repair process. It may not completely remove the scars but prolonged use could lead to a vast differences.
